Kong KISA

The Kong Impact Shock Absorber is an ingenious alloy plate through which a dynamic rope is threaded (diameter 9mm - 11mm)to create a cowstail set with enhanced shock absorption and some relative length adjustability.

While normal knotted cowstails are clearly sufficiently shock absorbing in normal use (as I always say, "where are the statistics of dead cavers to prove otherwise?") the KISA has been used in more hazardous circumstances such as bolt climbing.

Apart from the possibility of changing cowstail length, the other advantage of the KISA in more normal use is that it is (surprisingly) somewhat less bulky that a knot and (especially if covered with a length of bicycle inner tube) less prone to abrasion and longer lasting in gnarly rifty caves.
