Etche caving boots

Etche wellington boots.

Rubber caving boots, unlined. They dry quickly (useful if you don't always wear wetsocks), have a new sole unit with excellent deep tread, and are very comfortable. There is no footplate or steel toecap, but protection is good especially across the toe box.

They are a broad fit, and they can accommodate insoles (top tip!) so they're good for long trips and expedition work; anywhere that lots of walking or prussiking is anticipated. You shouldn't lose any toenails in these, even if you're in them for days on end.

These are the French make that get mentioned in 'Alpine Caving Techniques' - not the cheapest, but among the best.

Available in sizes 37 to 45 continental, so both small women and yetis should find a suitable size...If in doubt, it is worth trying them on; they are generally a large fit.
