Dive Scurion

Dive Scurion. What cave divers have been talking about... This is effectively a Scurion 1500, individually tested and dive rated to 100m. If you want more details of what this big bright beast of a lamp will do, the description of the 1500 is pretty full. The differences between the Dive Scurion and the 1500 are: i) the battery box is sealed by two allen key headed nuts. Not so quick to change as the dry caving version, but clearly, *very* robust in-sump. ii)the battery is a new version (we'll put a photo up) which has a different - more robust - connection, and charger unit to fit. iii) the switch on the headset is slightly smaller and designed to withstand the greater pressure (not much to see) We are taking orders NOW, units will be with us by the end of February 2012. We will be stocking black, of course, other headset colours available, ask us for details.
Petzl Duo Fixo
£90.00

Petzl Duo Fixo

Petzl Duo Fixo caving headlamp for helmet mounting Basically the same as the Duo, but adapted for use with the Vertex and Ecrin helmets. Undoubtedly works with other models of helmet too such as the Edelrid Ultralite. Contact us if you want to buy a helmet, and have the Fixo mounted on it. Waterproof to 5m, durable, and capable of 67 lumens on the 14 led package, the Duo is a very good choice for many cavers.
Petzl Duo headtorch
£99.00

Petzl Duo headtorch

Petzl Duo Headtorch. This headtorch is a lightweight, versatile and effective lamp. Complete with a 14 LED module with three power settings. The 14 LED module gives a choice of low power (although effective) long duration, or a relatively bright illumination which will last a 'normal' British trip, or something in between. The Duo is waterproof to 5 metres; light; tough enough for most caving; and takes AA batteries which are easily available in most parts of the world (plus, rechargeable versions are easy to come by). Highly recommended as a basic or entry level cave light, for those wanting more lumens than the Pixa 3 can give.
Petzl e+LITE
£24.50

Petzl e+LITE

Petzl e+LITE. A very lightweight and compact emergency LED lamp. It has three white and one red LEDs, with various power / colour settings. Mounted on a thin elastic strap that allows it to work as a headtorch, on a wristband etc. It is waterproof to 1m, and although not an intended use, it works well as an emergency caving backup. It is fine for camping underground, battery changes, and would work as a 'get out of jail' asset; although you wouldn't want to cave very far on it, in big passage! At 28g it can be carried around the neck very comfortably, and even features a small whistle. A very versatile piece of kit, and the lithium batteries are easily obtainable (including big supermarkets).
Petzl Pixa 3
£64.00

Petzl Pixa 3

Petzl Pixa 3 headtorch. A potentially very useful bit of new lighting. A relatively light weight headtorch, taking advantage of more modern technology and robust enough to cave with. Two LEDs with a total of three settings: i. wide beam (twelve hours, 30 lumens) ii. wide beam with medium intensity spot (six hours, 40 lumens) iii. high intensity spot (three hours, 50 lumens) The light takes two AA batteries, which are very easy to carry as spares. Although the lamp unit and batteries are mounted in one case on the front of the head (160g), balance is acceptable and the wide elasticated strap is comfortable when worn on the head direct. I fear that my initial reaction "I really like the knob on this" was misconstrued. But it really is a solid item, and seems pretty cave proof. It also is rated as waterproof to -1m for half an hour; and needs no maintenance after immersion. This is an advance on the Myo XP for cave use... Best suited, possibly, for digs, group use, and as a *really* solid backup for remote use; if your lovely expensive light falls down Hurricane in the Berger, you could actually (with spare batteries!) get out again without too much grief.
Petzl Spelios
£135.00

Petzl Spelios

Petzl Spelios integrated helmet and caving lamp. Basically a slight variant on the Elios climbing helmet, with the 14LED Duo fixed on to it. It has the good qualities of both, being a lightweight set which is comfortable to wear, easily adjustable, and basically a reliable set. The advantage of this set is that no helmet needs to be drilled to accept the torch, so no manufacturer's warranties are invalidated. Not such a consideration for personal use; but outdoor centres and clubs may be more comfortable with this solution. The helmet is available in two sizes (2 being the one that fits most adults, 1 fits children and those with small heads) and any colour, as long as it is ORANGE. If you are an outdoor centre or similar organisation please contact us for bulk order rates.
Pitlamp led module
£58.00

Pitlamp led module

Pitlamp led module. Newly-updated twin led module to fit Oldham, CEAG and Speleotechnics headsets. Easily retro fitted. The two leds run simultaneously, one producing a narrow spotting beam and one a flood for greater comfort in bigger passage. There are three power settings:c. 30, 150, and 400 lumens. The leds are independently regulated. It runs on 3.5 - 6.0v i.e *not* FX2 or FX5. Headamps, FX3s and 'own brand' battery combinations should be fine; and duration will vary according to the power source selected. Constructed in aluminium with an attractive gunmetal finish. Scurion 1500

Scurion 1500

Scurion 1500. It's bright as ever, and now it is cheaper! A high quality, high tech, really *very* bright and versatile caving light. The sort of light to which superlatives attach... Two LEDs in an anodized alloy lamp head (default colour black, for other options contact us), with the alloy box for the lithium ion batteries at the rear of the helmet. The key feature of the Scurion is the combination of a very effective wide angled LED (the 1500 model has a wider spread than the other models), with an equally effective spot beam LED. Each can be used together or separately, on a variety of different brightness settings which are user-programmable. Lamps are delivered with four different settings installed - some users are content with these; some tinker.Rather than try to describe every permutation, it is best to say that the longest run time (lowest setting on 1 LED only) is c. 88 hours, while the brightest setting at 725 lumen each, a total of 1450 lumen(both XM-L LEDs at full power) would last just over two hours. Battery level is indicated by a row of five green, mini LEDs in the headset. The lamp may also be 'locked' to avoid it turning on accidentally in transit It is non-magnetic, which significantly aids the taking of accurate survey data! As spare batteries are available, not *too* expensive, and easily transported, the Scurion 1500 makes a good expedition lamp for anyone intending to go underground for fairly long periods of time (days, if common sense is deployed)if LOTS OF LIGHT is a high priority for you! With a simple converter added, it can also run off a 9v battery at reduced capability. The spot facility is very useful in rigging and exploration of avens and pitches, while the wide angle capability makes for comfortable caving. In terms of versatility of caving use, it is very much at the top end of all currently available units. It is water resistant to a high degree; if you don't tamper with the headset, and if you take care when replacing the lid of the battery box, to ensure that the 'O' ring is seated correctly. However it really *isn't* suitable for diving! Note that this is *not* the lightest caving lamp. Small, or weak necked cavers should try the lamp for carrying before investing - ask nicely and you can borrow mine, if we meet face to face. It is also possible to order the 'long cable' option, which significantly reduces weight on your head. Comes with a mains charger, *two* batteries, and full instructions (useful!) The default fitting is a 'bolt to the helmet' affair, a spade alternative is available upon request. Aftercare is all that you would expect with a lamp of this quality.
Scurion 4 cell pack
£65.00

Scurion 4 cell pack

Scurion 4 cell battery pack. Useful spare for expeditions or people who want to max out on lumens. Remember that these packs (much like Gremlins) should not be allowed to get wet, or be exposed to hard impacts. A small hard case, or a drybag plus neoprene / spare clothing as padding, are both good solutions. Free shipping for this item; if you've bought a Scurion it's the least we can do!

Scurion 700 with 9v adaptor

Scurion 700.A high quality, high tech, bright and versatile caving lamp. THE ECONOMIC CRISIS - EVERY CLOUD HAS A SILVER LINING; THE PRICE HAS DROPPED! The key feature of the Scurion is the combination of a very effective wide angled LED, with an equally effective spot beam LED. Lamps are delivered with four different settings installed - some users are content with these; some tinker.Rather than try to describe every permutation, it is best to say that the longest run time (lowest setting on 1 LED only) is c. 151 hours, while the brightest setting at 720 lumen (both LEDs at full power) would last just under five hours. Battery level is indicated by a row of five green, mini LEDs in the headset. The lamp may also be 'locked' to avoid it turning on accidentally in transit The unit is also non-magnetic, which makes the surveyors life somewhat easier... As spare batteries are available, not *too* expensive, and easily transported, the Scurion makes a good expedition lamp for anyone intending to go underground for fairly long periods of time (days, if common sense is deployed). Scurion 9v adapter
£13.00

Scurion 9v adapter

Scurion 9v adapter. The adapter allows you to use the lamp with a 9v battery. Definitely not a replacement for the lithium ion battery pack; but it will run for c. 20+ hours on a fresh alkaline at power level 1. Enough to get you out of a cave if you only have one battery pack, and miscalculate! Also, if you're diligent, you can swap to this when camping (above or below ground)and save the lumens for when you really need them. It has reverse polarity protection. Free shipping on this item.
Viper
£295.00

Viper

Viper light. A high quality, high tech, and very bright caving light. Three LEDs in a compact lamphead, with the lithium ion battery helmet mounted at the rear for neatness. There are four light settings, going roughly: 1. lasts about two days, enough to crawl or prussik on 2. lasts 10+ hours, enough for comfortable caving in most passage 3. lasts 3+ hours, a very bright light for enjoying *big* passage 4. lasts 1.5+ hours at c. 825 lumens, for spotting or filming. Water resistant to a high degree (we're working on getting a depth quote, currently 10m), and altogether a useful bit of kit if you're caving mainly in the UK, or anywhere near any recharging facility. Also has a battery level indicator - a neat feature to be expected on all top end lamps. The Viper has proved particularly popular with users who wish to take photographs or film. The significant brightness at full setting, combined with the very even spread beam makes an attractive package. Comes with mains charger and car charger, plus all necessities for helmet mounting. As this is a British product, follow up care should be excellent (as you would expect with any top flight kit!)
Viper Exploration package
£360.00

Viper Exploration package

Viper Exploration package. A high quality, high tech, and very bright caving light, combined with a sturdy and comfortable helmet in a user -friendly package. The Viper will fit on most caving helmets (contact us for advice on this, we've had one on an Elios, which is not the easiest of tasks)but in this package we offer it with the Petzl Ecrin Roc. This is the helmet on which the Viper is most often to be seen, and the stability of the design complements the light very nicely; it is also one of the easiest helmets on which to fit the Viper! We are able to fit the Viper to the Ecrin Roc on request, at no extra cost. However, we will only do this after meeting the buyer, in order to settle the exact desired location of the headset and battery! Please specify desired helmet colour on ordering. Clearly, the tech-specs of helmet and light remain the same as those listed under the individual descriptions...
