Scurion 1500

£630.00

Scurion 1500. It's bright as ever, and now it is cheaper!

A high quality, high tech, really *very* bright and versatile caving light. The sort of light to which superlatives attach...
Two LEDs in an anodized alloy lamp head (default colour black, for other options contact us), with the alloy box for the lithium ion batteries at the rear of the helmet. The key feature of the Scurion is the combination of a very effective wide angled LED (the 1500 model has a wider spread than the other models), with an equally effective spot beam LED. Each can be used together or separately, on a variety of different brightness settings which are user-programmable. Lamps are delivered with four different settings installed - some users are content with these; some tinker.Rather than try to describe every permutation, it is best to say that the longest run time (lowest setting on 1 LED only) is c. 88 hours, while the brightest setting at 725 lumen each, a total of 1450 lumen(both XM-L LEDs at full power) would last just over two hours. Battery level is indicated by a row of five green, mini LEDs in the headset. The lamp may also be 'locked' to avoid it turning on accidentally in transit It is non-magnetic, which significantly aids the taking of accurate survey data! As spare batteries are available, not *too* expensive, and easily transported, the Scurion 1500 makes a good expedition lamp for anyone intending to go underground for fairly long periods of time (days, if common sense is deployed)if LOTS OF LIGHT is a high priority for you! With a simple converter added, it can also run off a 9v battery at reduced capability. The spot facility is very useful in rigging and exploration of avens and pitches, while the wide angle capability makes for comfortable caving. In terms of versatility of caving use, it is very much at the top end of all currently available units. It is water resistant to a high degree; if you don't tamper with the headset, and if you take care when replacing the lid of the battery box, to ensure that the 'O' ring is seated correctly. However it really *isn't* suitable for diving! Note that this is *not* the lightest caving lamp. Small, or weak necked cavers should try the lamp for carrying before investing - ask nicely and you can borrow mine, if we meet face to face. It is also possible to order the 'long cable' option, which significantly reduces weight on your head. Comes with a mains charger, *two* batteries, and full instructions (useful!) The default fitting is a 'bolt to the helmet' affair, a spade alternative is available upon request. Aftercare is all that you would expect with a lamp of this quality.
